Public Consultation on the Proposal for the Use of the L6GHz Band for Wi-Fi 6 Services
January 8, 2026 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) intends to authorise the use of the 5925–6425 MHz (L6GHz) band for Wireless Access Systems/Radio Local Area Networks.
Accordingly, in pursuance of its mandate under Sections 58(4) and 58(5) of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008 (Act 775) and Section 4.1 of the National Telecommunications Policy, 2005 (NTP’05), the Authority hereby invites views and comments from Service Providers, consumers of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) services, and the general public on the proposal for the use of the L6GHz band for Wi-Fi services.
The public consultation begins with immediate effect and shall expire on 25 February 2026.
All responses and comments should be submitted electronically as e-mail attachments, in Microsoft Word format, to engineering@nca.org.gh .
All respondents are requested to complete a Response Cover Sheet (see Page iii) and to use the format/template on Page iii to prepare their comments.
- Respondents are encouraged to clearly indicate the sections of the document with which they agree or disagree, providing reasons where applicable.
Confidentiality
- In furtherance of transparency and openness, the Authority shall treat all responses as non-confidential; accordingly, all submissions shall be published on the Authority’s website (www.nca.org.gh) upon receipt.
- Please note that copyright and all other intellectual property rights in the responses shall be deemed to be licensed to the NCA for use in meeting its legal and regulatory requirements.
