Overview
Telemetry, Alarms and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems

Telemetry is the automatic recording and transmission of data from remote or inaccessible sources to an IT system in a different location for monitoring and analysis. Telemetry data may be relayed using radio, infrared, ultrasonic, GSM, satellite or cable, depending on the application.
Technical Information

Telemetry Systems

Telemetry is the automatic recording and transmission of data from remote or inaccessible sources to an IT system in a different location for monitoring and analysis.
Telemetry data may be relayed using radio, infrared, ultrasonic, GSM, satellite or cable, depending on the application.
In a general sense, telemetry works through sensors at the remote source which measures physical (such as precipitation, pressure or temperature) or electrical (such as current or voltage) data. This is converted to electrical voltages that are combined with timing data. They form a data stream that is transmitted over a wireless medium, wired or a combination of both.
Currently, the UHF Band between 400-470 MHz is allocated for Telemetry Radio applications.

Alarm Systems

An alarm is a system designed to detect intrusion or unauthorized entry into premises. Alarms Systems are used in residential, commercial, industrial, and military properties for protection against burglary (theft) or property damage, as well as personal protection against intruders. Currently, the Alarm Systems in Ghana operate in the ISM frequency Band 433/868 or any other dedicated frequency in the VHF (136 MHz -174MHz) or UHF (400-470MHz) band.

Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition(SCADA) Systems

A SCADA is an automation control system that is used in industries such as energy, oil and gas, water, power, and many more. The system has a centralized system that monitors and controls entire sites, ranging from an industrial plant to a complex of plants across the country. A SCADA system works by operating with signals that communicate via channels to provide the user with remote controls of any equipment in a given system.
Currently, the SCADA Systems in Ghana operate in the UHF (400-470MHz) band.
