NCA Audit Committee Inaugurated

December 16, 2025: The National Communications Authority (NCA) has inaugurated a five-member Audit Committee mandated to ensure sound and effective financial management practices at the Authority. The ceremony was held at the NCA Tower.

The inauguration is in line with Section 86 of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), which requires all Government institutions to establish Audit Committees.

The Committee is chaired by Mr. Thomas A. Thompson-Aryee, Acting Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA). Other members are Dr. Felix Kwame Aveh, a representative of the IAA; Dr. Kenneth Kwadwo Obeng, a representative of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG); Dr. Selaise Esar Agyinasare, a member of the NCA Board; and Madam Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, also a member of the NCA Board.

The Acting Director-General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Rev. Ing. Edmund Y. Fianko, expressed appreciation to the outgoing Committee for their dedication, wisdom, and guidance, which were instrumental in helping the Authority navigate challenging periods and other key matters. He thanked them for their continued support and emphasised the importance of maintaining the strong relationship built over the years. Rev. Ing. Fianko also welcomed the incoming Committee, expressed confidence in their capacity to build on the progress made, and assured them of the Authority’s full support in the discharge of their duties.

On behalf of the Committee, Mr. Thompson-Aryee stated that he would work closely with members to add value to the Authority, noting that the Committee’s mandate is clearly defined. “As a Committee that aligns with the reforms and policies set by the NCA, we are committed to ensuring their effective implementation and to contributing to the overall success of the Authority,” he said.

Inaugurating the Committee, Mr. Bismark Aborbi-Ayitey, Acting Deputy Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) in charge of Finance, Administration and Support Services (FASS), charged the newly inaugurated Committee to perform its roles and responsibilities as stipulated under Act 921 to support effective governance and management at the NCA.

Speaking on behalf of the Board Chairperson, Ms. Mavis A. Ampah, Mr. George Sarpong advised the Committee to work diligently towards achieving its laid-down objectives, noting that its efforts would contribute significantly to the development of the NCA and Ghana as a whole.

The inauguration of the Audit Committee reaffirms the NCA’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound financial governance. Through strengthened oversight and collaboration with key regulatory and professional institutions, the Authority remains focused on safeguarding public resources and enhancing confidence in the management of Ghana’s electronic communications sector.
