NCC Benchmarks NCA’s Regulatory Operations
May 7, 2025 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) is hosting an eight (8)-member delegation from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) led by Mr. Maigana Gidado Ahmed on a two (2)-day benchmark visit at the NCA Tower in Accra. The visit, which seeks to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance regulatory collaboration started today, 7th May, 2025 and is expected to end tomorrow, Thursday, 8th May, 2025.
Welcoming the delegation to the Authority, the Acting Director General (Ag. DG) of the NCA, Rev. Ing. Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko, expressed his excitement and appreciation to the NCC for choosing the NCA for such a significant visit. He acknowledged the longstanding relationship between the two institutions; one that has spanned many years and continues to grow stronger.

Rev. Ing. Fianko also noted that the NCA and NCC have often stood together on key regional issues, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing the digital and regulatory agenda within West Africa. He further emphasised that the unified stance often taken by Ghana and Nigeria has, over the years, shaped the broader direction of policy and development across the sub-region. He was hopeful that the visit would further deepen collaboration and reinforce the collective vision of the two institutions.
Mr. Maigana Gidado Ahmed, Deputy Director for Technical Standards and Network Integrity, on behalf of the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, extended sincere appreciation to the NCA for the warm reception and the kind approval to host the visiting delegation.

He outlined the NCC’s operational focus and highlighted several key initiatives currently underway including quality of service enforcement, consumer protection, infrastructure resilience and efforts to enhance collaboration. He expressed the delegation’s desire to engage in meaningful dialogue and to learn from the NCA’s experiences in implementing these key initiatives.
As part of the visit, the Ag. DG of NCA and the EVC of NCC are expected to have a bilateral meeting on Thursday, 8th May, 2025, to discuss areas of strategic and regulatory cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria’s telecommunication industry.
