NCA Shares Expertise on Revenue Assurance with Communications Authority of Kenya

March 18, 2025 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) has welcomed an eight-member delegation from the Communications Authority of Kenya and the Kenya Revenue Authority on a three-day study visit. The visit which commenced on 18th March, 2025 will end on 20th March, 2025. 

The primary focus of the delegation is to learn from Ghana’s experience as regards revenue assurance and diversification.

Welcoming the delegation, the Deputy Director General for Technical Operations (DDG-TO) at the NCA, Mr. Suleman Salifu, expressed the Authority’s commitment to knowledge sharing with industry stakeholders across Africa. Providing further insights into the NCA’s regulatory advancements, Mr. Salifu highlighted how the NCA has strengthened its regulatory mandates through the acquisition of state-of-the-art technological installations.

He underscored the strategic partnership between the NCA and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), emphasizing that institutional collaboration is essential for shaping the future of the digital economy.

The Head of the Kenyan delegation, Mr. Peter Martin Ikumilu, highlighted the longstanding knowledge-sharing and collaboration between Kenya and Ghana over the years. He acknowledged Ghana’s significant progress in revenue assurance and noted that Kenya can adopt and adapt some of these advancements to enhance its own regulatory framework.

Mr. Ikumilu added that given the growing need for real-time data in monitoring and securing telecom revenues, it has become essential for the Communications Authority of Kenya to collaborate with the Kenya Revenue Authority in developing a comprehensive solution. This underscores the importance of leveraging Ghana’s experience as a benchmark for implementing a robust and effective revenue assurance system.

Given the focus of the visit and to ensure a comprehensive discussion, the Ghana Revenue Authority and the Bank of Ghana will take turns to engage the delegation and address key areas of interest in relation to the subject matter.

The NCA is optimistic that the visit will serve as a platform for meaningful discussions and valuable knowledge exchange, further reinforcing the collaborative relationship between Ghana and Kenya in the areas of ICT regulation and oversight.
