Invitation for Comments on the ECE (Type Approval) Regulations, 2019
The National Communications Authority (NCA) hereby invites public comments and views on the Draft Electronic Communications Equipment (Type Approval) Regulations, 2019. The purpose of the Regulations is to enforce Regulation 3 (n) of the National Communications Authority Act of 2008, Act 769 which empowers the NCA to certify and ensure the testing of Electronic Communications Equipment for compliance with international standards; and environmental health and safety standards including electromagnetic radiation and emissions.
Under procedures established by the National Telecommunication Policy of 2005 and National Communications Authority Act of 2008, before seeking approval for the said Regulations, the Authority must solicit public comments on the proposed regulations.
The Regulations, when promulgated, will enable the Authority streamline the Type Approval framework in accordance with Sections 66 and 67 of the Electronic Communications Act, 2008, Act 775 and Regulations 78 and 79 of Electronic Communications Regulations 2011, L.I. 1991. The format is available on the NCA website.
The public consultation begins on 4th June, 2019 and shall expire on 17th July, 2019.
All responses/comments should be electronically sent as e-mail attachments, in Microsoft word format to info@localhost.
All respondents are requested to complete a response cover sheet (annexed A), also to be found on the website.
In furtherance of transparency and openness, the Authority shall consider all responses as non-confidential; accordingly, all submissions shall be published on our website after review by the NCA.
Please note that copyright and all other intellectual property with regards to responses submitted shall be assumed that the right of access has been granted to the Authority to be used in meeting its legal requirements.
