Mr. Patrick Boateng

Mr. Patrick Boateng is an Adjunct Professor at Webster University Ghana Campus and Ghana Institute of Management & Public Administration (GIMPA).

Mr. Boateng has over 38 years of experience in telecommunications, financial services, and university teaching. From August 2014 to March 2015, he was the Country Director and General Manager of doPay International Holdings BV, a Netherlands-based start-up company that focused on empowering the unbanked population through the provision of innovative financial services.

Prior to doPay, he was Vodafone Ghana’s Director of External Affairs from December 2010 to November 2012 where he managed the company’s external affairs relationships with stakeholders and influenced corporate decision-making in legal, regulatory, and political matters. He also managed the Vodafone Ghana Foundation, a key function that enhanced the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Before Vodafone, Mr. Boateng was for eleven years the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC) expert on African telecommunication policy matters, after having spent over five years enforcing cable TV rate regulations in the FCC’s Cable Services Bureau, in positions as Acting Division Chief and Assistant Division Chief. Mr. Boateng arrived at the FCC with nearly 18 years of private sector work experience in telecommunications, public accounting, corporate accounting, internal auditing, university teaching, and management consulting.

Mr. Boateng’s career spanned the Audit division of Arthur Andersen and Company in Boston, Massachusetts, the Potomac Electric Power Company in Washington, DC, the Bell Atlantic (now Verizon) Corporation in Silver Spring, Maryland, Ghana’s Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, and Deloitte & Touche Consulting, West Africa. While at Bell Atlantic and the FCC, he was an adjunct lecturer at the Howard University School of Business & Public Administration, and at the Bowie State University Graduate School & Continuing Education, Maryland.

Mr. Boateng is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and holds BBA (Accounting) and MBA degrees from Howard University, Washington, D.C.
