September 22, 2026 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) is hosting a delegation from the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) of The Gambia on a four-day benchmarking visit from Tuesday, 22^nd to Friday, 25^th September 2026, at the NCA Tower.

The visit is aimed at facilitating the exchange of experiences and best practices in broadcasting and regulatory operations, while exploring possible areas of cooperation between the two regulatory institutions.

The delegation was welcomed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Managerial Operations, Mrs. Etta Mosore and the Deputy Director-General in charge of Technical Operations, Mr. Suleman Salifu, who both expressed the NCA’s readiness to share its regulatory experiences and expertise with PURA and learn from the Gambian regulator.

In her remarks, Mrs. Mosore highlighted some of the NCA’s work and regulatory developments, particularly the Authority’s focus on consumer affairs and the protection of consumer interests. She also touched on ongoing reviews of the legal and regulatory framework within the sector, as well as developments in the technical space aimed at strengthening Quality of Service (QoS) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

She further highlighted the work of the NCA’s Dispute Resolution Committee and the role it plays in providing a structured mechanism for resolving disputes within the communications industry.

Also speaking at the engagement, Mr Suleman Salifu noted that the visit, the second by PURA to the NCA this year, reflects the strong relationship between the two regulatory institutions and the NCA’s commitment to knowledge sharing. He reiterated the Authority’s willingness to share its regulatory experiences and expertise with its counterparts, while creating opportunities for mutual learning and collaboration.

Speaking on behalf of the Director General of PURA, Madam Jamilatou Saidy, Director of Consumer Affairs and head of the delegation expressed appreciation to the NCA for hosting them and providing an opportunity to learn from Ghana’s regulatory experience.

She noted that institutional and regulatory governance is a key area of interest for PURA and indicated that engaging directly with the NCA and examining its institutional arrangements would provide valuable insights for the Gambian regulator.

As part of the benchmarking visit, the delegation will gain insight into the NCA’s regulatory governance framework, mechanisms for implementing regulatory policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and approaches to service delivery and consumer protection.

Other key areas of focus include governance structures, regulatory decision-making procedures, governance reporting, regulatory policy development, as well as monitoring and evaluation.

The four-day engagement is expected to provide both institutions with an opportunity to share experiences, deepen regulatory knowledge and identify areas for further cooperation.
