“Early Detection Saves Lives” – NCA Board Chair Inspires Women at Breast Cancer Awareness Launch
13th October, 2025: “Early detection saves lives. You are never too young to go for a check-up,” were the inspiring words of Madam Mavis Ampah, the newly appointed and first female Board Chair of the National Communications Authority (NCA), as she addressed staff during the launch of the Authority’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month on 13th October, 2025, at the NCA Tower.
Interacting with staff for the first time in her capacity as Board Chair, Madam Ampah encouraged women to prioritise their health and take advantage of available screening opportunities. She emphasised that early detection and preventive care are critical to overcoming breast cancer, urging staff not to wait until symptoms appear before seeking medical attention.

The event, organised in partnership with GLICO Health, forms part of the NCA’s commitment to promoting staff wellness and supporting national efforts toward breast cancer prevention and awareness. The launch featured a comprehensive health talk on breast cancer, streamed live to all NCA Zonal Offices to ensure full participation. Medical professionals from GLICO Health led the session, educating staff on preventive measures, early detection, and treatment options, and offering free breast screening for those present at the NCA Tower.
Delivering his address, the Acting Director General of the NCA, Rev. Ing. Edmund Y. Fianko, underscored the importance of making health a consistent lifestyle choice rather than a one-off event.
“This shouldn’t be a formality; let’s apply the knowledge we gain and make health consciousness part of our daily lives. Breast cancer affects not just the individual but the entire family. I wish above all things that we remain in good health so we can prosper and do well,” he stated.
