7th August, 2025: The National Communications Authority (NCA) has once again opened its doors to 100 young girls as part of the ongoing Girls-In-ICT programme. Held at the NCA Tower in Accra, the mentorship event was organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation (MoCDTI) to expose the girls to career opportunities in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector and provide them with first-hand experience of a professional working environment.

and development -Mrs. Rahmata Issahaq-Pelpuo
In her welcome address, Mrs. Rahmata Issahaq-Pelpuo, Director for Procurement and Protocol at the NCA, emphasised the significance of such initiatives in bridging the gender gap in the ICT industry. “This platform gives you, the young ones, the opportunity to interact with professionals, learn about emerging technologies, and envision yourselves in future careers within the communications and technology space,” she noted.
She encouraged the girls to aspire to the highest levels within the ICT sector, urging them to break barriers and take up leadership roles that influence policy, innovation, and development. Mrs. Issahaq-Pelpuo further stressed that the future of technology in Ghana and beyond requires bold, intelligent, and visionary women who are not only active participants but also trailblazers and decision-makers.
Speaking at the event, Assistant Director at the MoCDTI, Nana Abena Ampomah, noted that the participants comprising 50 girls from the Greater Accra Region and 50 from the Ashanti Region were grateful for the opportunity. She commended the NCA for its continued commitment to empowering young women through practical exposure and mentorship in the ICT sector.
During the event, the girls were mentored by female staff from various Divisions of the NCA, including Eunice Foriwaa Bempong (Corporate Affairs) Sarbah Loveland Akusika (Regulatory Affairs), Caroline Idy (Information Technology), Ruth Akuoko (Engineering), and Miriam Kobbinah (Cybersecurity). The mentorship sessions provided insights into the Authority’s work and inspired the girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
