NCA Hosts Sierra Leone’s Telecom Regulator on Operational Benchmarking Visit
July 14, 2026 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) has welcomed a delegation from Sierra Leone’s Telecoms Regulator, National Communications Authority (NatCA), to the NCA Tower in Accra for a five-day operational benchmarking visit. The visit, which commenced on Monday, 13th July 2026, is expected to end on Friday, 17th July 2026.
The visit is aimed at providing the delegation with practical insights into Ghana’s regulatory experiences and best practices in key operational areas including the 5G Licensing Framework, Mobile Virtual Operations, Mobile Number Portability and Consumer Protection.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of NCA’s Director General, the Deputy Director General in charge of Managerial Operations, Mrs. Etta Mosore, noted that the visit was timely as it coincided with NCA’s 30th anniversary celebrations. ‘‘I think it is a great time to exchange experiences and learn from one another. We are pleased to welcome you and I am confident your visit will be both insightful and worthwhile’’, she said.

Mrs. Mosore highlighted some of the Authority’s key operational priorities, including spectrum harmonisation, 5G licensing, consumer protection, broadcasting, monitoring and enforcement, as well as activities marking the Authority’s 30th anniversary. She emphasised that engagements of this nature reinforce partnerships among sister regulators and advance regulatory excellence and regional cooperation.

In his response, the Director General of NatCA, Mr. Amara Brewah, on behalf of the delegation, thanked the NCA for its warm reception and hospitality, as well as the opportunity to undertake the five-day operational benchmarking visit. He acknowledged the long-standing relationship between the two regulatory authorities, underscoring the role of such engagements in fostering institutional growth, knowledge sharing and capacity building.
‘‘We are here to learn and take some valuable lessons away. We always come here because we are one people and the challenges that you have are similar to what we have so it is always a good thing to see what you are doing and learn from it’’ he noted.
Mr. Brewah added that NatCA, which was celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, considered the visit timely as it sought to learn from the NCA’s three decades of regulatory experience, particularly as it advanced initiatives such as eSIM integration and 5G deployment trial.
Deliberations during the visit are expected to include technical presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions on key regulatory and operational areas.
