NCA Notifies Public of MTN Service Disruption in Parts of the Greater Accra Region
March 28, 2026 – The National Communications Authority (NCA) wishes to inform the general public, particularly subscribers of MTN Ghana, that a service disruption earlier today affected voice and data services in parts of the Greater Accra Region.
At 14:49 GMT, the NCA received official notification from MTN Ghana regarding a network incident which affected 57 2G, 57 3G and 57 4G sites, as well as fixed fibre broadband services in some areas.
The affected enclaves included:
- Lister Hospital
- Klagon
- Baatsona
- Trassaco
MTN reported that the disruption was caused by cuts to three of its transmission fibre cables, resulting in service degradation and interruptions for customers within the affected areas.
The Authority has since been informed that the fault affecting the Lister hospital area has been resolved and services have been restored. Repair work is ongoing to restore service to the remaining affected areas.
The NCA will continue to engage MTN Ghana to monitor the situation and ensure service stability for affected subscribers.
The Authority appreciates the patience and understanding of consumers and remains committed to safeguarding the quality, reliability and continuity of telecommunications services across the country.
