Dr. George Atta-Boateng is an accomplished Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and telecommunications expert with over eighteen years of experience spanning ICT policy, data communications and digital infrastructure governance.
He has demonstrated exceptional capability in designing and implementing large-scale national ICT projects such as digital education systems, national fibre backbone networks and public Wi-Fi deployments. He has successfully supervised transformative initiatives including the national schools’ computerisation programme, Ghana’s cybersecurity project and the extension of the Eastern Corridor fibre network. Dr. Atta-Boateng currently leads the National Signals Bureau, where he is responsible for the overall administration and strategic direction of the organisation. His role focuses on safeguarding national security through intelligence gathered from cyberspace, electronic communications and signal systems.
His strong technical foundation spans telecommunications technologies (GSM, CDMA, LTE, 5G architecture), database systems (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server), programming (Python, SQL) and network engineering (TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6, LAN/WAN design). His research interests include Television White Space (TVWS) technologies and artificial intelligence, with multiple peer-reviewed publications indexed in IEEE Xplore, Springer, and Google Scholar. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology. Additionally, he holds both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Computer Science as well as Advanced Certificate in Financial Economics and Data Analysis from Fordham University, New York. USA.
