Dr. Augustina Odame is an economist and digital policy expert with over a decade of experience shaping financial inclusion, regulatory reform, and digital transformation across Africa. Her work bridges policy, finance, and technology, helping governments, regulators, and private institutions design frameworks that expand access, foster innovation, and safeguard financial integrity. She has built a strong reputation for translating complex policy issues into actionable strategies that drive growth, competition, and responsible innovation….
She currently serves as Policy Advisor at the Ghana Chamber of Technology, providing strategic guidance on policies shaping Ghana’s digital economy. In this role, she engages with regulators, operators, and development partners to align national priorities with industry realities, ensuring regulation promotes innovation while maintaining market stability. Her focus areas include digital inclusion, emerging technologies, and positioning Ghana as a regional leader in digital transformation.
From 2021 to 2023, Dr. Odame served as CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Technology. Under her leadership, the Chamber emerged as a credible and influential industry voice, championing reforms, building capacity, and promoting competition. She led strategic engagements with policymakers and development partners, advocating for policies aimed at building a robust, competitive, and inclusive technology ecosystem.
Previously, as Senior Consultant at Eight Geeks @ Law, she led regulatory strategy and licensing for technology firms expanding across Africa. She has also advised a range of ecosystem actors on policy design, governance, and technology transformation. Her advisory work across fintech, data governance, and digital infrastructure gives her a panoramic view of the enablers driving transformative innovation.
Dr. Odame brings extensive governance experience, having served on the Payment Systems Advisory Committee of the Bank of Ghana and the Steering Committee of the GIZ Digital Transformation Center, contributing to national policy, interoperability, and capacity-building initiatives. She previously directed research at the Fintech and Payments Institute and completed postdoctoral research at Yale University, integrating economic and environmental models for policy analysis.
Dr. Odame holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Utah State University and a B.A. (Hons.) in Economics with Frenchfrom the University of Ghana. She is fluent in English and French, with working knowledge of Spanish.
