Led by the General Secretary, Mr. Evans Otumfuor, the Association, currently with a membership of over 12,000 Agents nationwide, highlighted the vital role they play in the financial ecosystem while raising concerns about pressing challenges affecting their work. These included the growing threat of mobile money fraud and cyberattacks, difficulties with cross-platform mobile transactions, the exorbitant pricing of SIM cards by some agents and resellers, as well as persistent network disruptions that hinder smooth transactions.

The Executives also sought clarity on the upcoming SIM Registration Exercise announced by the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, and emphasised the need for deeper collaboration with the NCA in shaping policies and implementations that affect their sector.

In his response, the Director-General acknowledged the issues raised as critical and assured the delegation of the NCA’s commitment to addressing those that fall within its mandate. He explained that the Authority is working closely with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to ensure that the upcoming SIM registration process will be seamless, user-friendly, and will rectify the lapses identified in the previous exercise.

On the issue of cyber fraud, Rev. Ing. Fianko urged the Association to also engage the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) as part of a comprehensive approach to addressing security risks within the digital financial services space. He further assured the Association that the NCA will investigate the other matters raised, with a view to finding lasting solutions, and reiterated the Authority’s readiness to involve the Association in its future initiatives.
