June 10, 2024 – The Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Dr. Joe Anokye, has been honoured with the ‘Telecom Man of the Year’ award at the 13th Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) 2024, held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on Friday, June 7, 2024.

Dr. Anokye’s exceptional leadership in managing Ghana’s communications industry has been widely recognised since his appointment as Director General of the NCA in 2017. Dr. Anokye had previously received an accolade amongst Africa’s Top 50 Digital Economy Leaders in the 8th Africa Digital Economy Awards, 2023 held in Kenya.
Below are some of the awards he has received during his tenure:
- The Outstanding Corporate Communications Personality of the Decade 2023 at the 14th Edition of the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards.
- Exemplary Leadership Award (Technology Sector) at the Ghana Business and Innovation Awards, 2024.
- The Best Telecommunications Authority Industry CEO of the Year (Public Sector) at the Ghana Entrepreneur and Corporate Executive Awards, 2023.
- Telecom Regulatory CEO of the Year at the 9th Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA), 2019.
- Africa’s Top 50 Digital Economy Leaders in the 8th Africa Digital Economy Awards, 2023.
- Top 20 Tech Leaders in Ghana and the Sub-Region in 12th Ghana Information Technology and Telecom Awards (GITTA), 2022.
Dr. Anokye’s transformative contributions have elevated the NCA to a benchmark in regulatory infrastructure. His commitment to excellence in digital economy leadership has been instrumental in steering Ghana’s communications industry to new heights. Since his appointment, he has consistently revitalised the sector, ensuring its growth and resilience through innovative regulatory tools. These led to the conferment of the honorary Doctor of Science (DSc Honoris Causa) Degree on him at the 57th Congregation of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
The honours are symbols of the leadership, innovation, and transformation exhibited by Dr. Joe Anokye in the telecommunications industry.
