Mr. Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor
Mr. Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor is a telecoms professional with twenty-three (23) years of experience in policy formulation, regulatory planning, monitoring and enforcement of technical obligations for communications service. He is well acquainted with matters in respect of planning, implementation and operations of telecommunication networks.
As the Director for International Affairs, he serves as the focal person for ICT specialised Organisations/Agencies such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Africa Telecommunications Union (ATU), and SMART Africa, among others. He is also responsible for activities related to these Organisations.
Prior to his appointment as Director for International Affairs, Mr. Baah-Acheamfuor has risen through the ranks wearing many hats. He served as the Deputy Director for the Regulatory Administration Division of the Authority from 2017 to 2019, Head of Monitoring and Compliance Division from 2015 to 2017, Principal Manager from 2011 to 2015, Senior Manager from 2010 to 2011 and Manager from 2006 to 2010.
Mr. Baah-Acheamfuor worked at Ghana Telecommunications Limited (now Vodafone Ghana) as an Assistant Engineer for Network Operations and Maintenance and a Radio Network Planning and Optimisation Engineer from 2001 to 2006.
From 2011 to date, Mr. Baah-Acheamfuor has served in various leadership capacities at the international level, including:
- Councillor, ITU Council and ATU Administrative Council
- Chair, Working Group of the 2022 ITU Plenipotentiary Conference Plenary
- Chairman, ITU-T Study Group 12 on Performance, Quality of Service, Quality of Experience
- Chair, African Group to the 2022 World Telecommunication Standardization Assembly
- Editor of ITU-T Recommendation E.803
Among the non-executive roles Mr. Baah-Acheamfuor has played are Chairman of the Quality Assurance Committee – Commission for Technical and Vocational Training and Governing Board Member of the Council for Technical and Vocational Education Training (COTVET).
In addition to the various professional trainings on various subjects he has participated in, Mr. Kwame Baah-Acheamfuor holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Project Management) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He also acquired a Bachelor of Science (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
