Delegation from The Gambia Pays Study Visit to the NCA
Accra, 9th September, 2021: The National Communications Authority (NCA) on Thursday, 9th
September, 2021 hosted a seven (7)-member delegation from The Gambia led by the country’s
Minister for Information and Communication Infrastructure, Mr. Ebrima Sillah. Other members of
the delegation included officials from the telecommunications regulator, as well as from the main
service provider of The Gambia. The visit was to understudy Ghana’s successes in the ICT and
digital initiatives, projects and policies and to understand the legal framework governing the
digital and infrastructural economy of Ghana.
Mr. Joe Anokye, the Director General of the NCA, who welcomed the delegation, gave an overview
of the mandate of the NCA. He also highlighted projects that have been undertaken by the regulator
over the past few years such as the installation of the Broadcast Monitoring Systems (BMS), the
Type Approval Laboratories, the establishment of the Cybersecurity Division and the creation of
the Authority’s Computer Emergency Response Team (NCA-CERT), Common Platform and the
Network Monitoring System (NMS). He further stated that the National Communications Authority
has worked to create an environment that promotes fair and sustainable competition which
encourages innovation and protects stakeholder interests while also facilitating universal access
to high-quality communications services for everyone in Ghana.
