Chamber of Telecoms Honours Communications Minister and NCA DG
The Acting Director General of the National Communications Authority (NCA), Mr. Joe Anokye has been honoured by the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications (GCT) on his appointment. The GCT honoured Mr. Anokye together with Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, the new Minister for Communications.
Held on the premises of the GCT, the event was attended by key stakeholders, made up of operators, regulators within the Communications and other related industries.
Welcoming guests to the event, Mr. Kwaku Sakyi-Addo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GCT said that the Chamber was geared up for new possibilities and he further urged the new Minister and the Ag. DG to include the operators in their consultations. Mr. Sakyi-Addo said the local telecommunications industry had a lot of local skill and expertise, which was available to the NCA whenever needed.
Madam Yolanda Cuba, CEO of Vodafone Ghana and the President of the GCT gave a speech on behalf of her colleague members and stressed that the industry needed regulatory and policy certainty to enable them take and make decisions in the best interest of all stakeholders.
Acknowledging the honour done him, Mr. Joe Anokye said he was prepared to face the challenges outlined to ensure that all stakeholders are able to meet their objectives. He thanked the hosts for their warm reception.
Giving her remarks, the Honourable Minister for Communications (MOC), Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful said Ghana is ready to do business. She said that it was not in the interest of Government to put impediments in the way of businesses and urged all operators and stakeholders to work together with the MOC and Government in this regard. Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful said she had an open door policy and would be ready to listen to the industry at all times.
Accompanying the DG at the event were the two (2) Deputy Director Generals of the NCA and some Directors.
