Hon. Charles Acheampong

Hon. Charles Acheampong currently serves as the Member of Parliament for the Lower West Akim Constituency and the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digitalisation. His career is distinguished by significant contributions to the telecommunications field, with over sixteen years of experience.

Prior to these appointments, Hon. Acheampong’s worked at the National Communications Authority (NCA) of Ghana from 2007-2020. During this period, Hon. Acheampong was responsible for spectrum monitoring and planning, as well as managing VHF/UHF land mobile and FM broadcasting frequencies. His tenure at the NCA was marked by high-responsibility roles, where he was instrumental in the development of spectrum policies, management of broadcasting services, and resolution of frequency interference issues.

He has chaired committees focused on expanding mobile coverage and developing policies for emerging technologies such as TV white space. His participation in international forums, such as the ITU World Radiocommunication Conferences, underscores his commitment to staying at the forefront of global technological advancements.

As a Member of Parliament, Hon. Acheampong’s duties include serving as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Gender and Children and participating in several key committees such as the Defence and Interior Committee, the Works and Housing Committee, the Communications Committee, and the Public Accounts Committee. His legislative work is complemented by his role as a board member of the Minerals Commission of Ghana and the Ghana News Agency.

Hon. Acheampong holds a Master of Science degree in Wireless Communications from Brunel University in the United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
