Radiodetermination Services
Overview
ITU Radio Regulation No. 1.9 defines Radiodetermination as using the propagation properties of radio waves for the determination of the position, velocity and/or other characteristics of an object, or obtaining of information relating to these parameters.;
Categorisation of Radiodetermination Services
No person or business entity is permitted to develop, install, operate and maintain a Radiodetermination service or systems without the requisite Authorisation from the Authority.
Radiodetermination services include; radionavigation, radiolocation, radar and radio direction-finding, etc:
Frequency Authorisation
All frequency bands allocated to radionavigation and radiolocation services per Ghana's National Frequency Allocation Table are available for use subject to the grant of a radiodetermination services Authorisation.
Application Requirements
The scope, application requirements and fees for the various radiodetermination services are provided for in the licensing framework for the operation of radiodetermination services in Ghana.
Categorisation of Radiodetermination Services
No person or business entity is permitted to develop, install, operate and maintain a Radiodetermination service or systems without the requisite Authorisation from the Authority.
- Radionavigation: Radiodetermination used for the purposes of navigation, including obstruction warning.
- Radiolocation: Radiodetermination used for purposes other than those of radionavigation.
- Radio direction-finding: Radiodetermination using the reception of radio waves for the purpose of determining the direction of a station or object.
- Radar: A radiodetermination system based on the comparison of reference signals with radio signals reflected, or retransmitted, from the position to be determined.
