NCA Publishes Version 1.2 of the DTT Receiver Conformance Regime


The National Communications Authority (NCA), has published an updated version of the Conformance Regime for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) receivers (set-top boxes, integrated digital television sets, etc) for Free to Air Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in Ghana. This current version 1.2, includes the addition of a new accredited laboratory to Annex 2 and an update of the cedi equivalent of the fees for the Test Suite and conformance certification.

NCA Publishes procedure for the award of Conformance Logos for Digital TV sets and decoders

The NCA has published the procedure for the award of the Conformance Logos for Digital TV sets and decoders. This conformance procedure also called conformance regime requires all manufacturers and/or dealers of television sets and set-top boxes for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) to test their products with accredited laboratories before being granted the authorisation to use the conformance logos i.e. the Digital Ghana thumb logos. The logo will confirm to consumers that the receiver is Ghana DTT compliant.



NCA announces the release of version 1.1 of the Minimum Spe

The National Communications Authority (NCA) announces the release of version 1.1 of the Minimum Specifications for Receivers of Free to Air Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) in Ghana. This new release is a revision of the version 1.0 released on February 6, 2013.

Report To The Government Of Ghana On The Migration From Analogue To Digital Broadcasting In Ghana

Ghana signed the Geneva 2006 (GE06) Agreement, establishing the Digital Terrestrial Broadcasting Plan in the bands 174 – 230 MHz and 470 – 862 MHz at the Regional Radiocommunications Conference (RRC-06) in 2006. The Agreement set 17 June 2015 as the deadline for the cessation of international protection for analogue broadcasting transmissions in the said bands.

Government of Ghana Adopts DVB-T2 as the Transmission Standard For Digital Terrestrial Television

The terrestrial television stations: GTV, TV3, TV Africa, Crystal TV, Metro TV, Viasat1, Net-2 TV, e-TV Ghana, Coastal TV, GhOne, Top TV and all other stations with similar licenses will migrate their transmissions from analogue to a digital platform in accordance with the Geneva 2006 (GE06) Agreement of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).

Committee Set To Plan Digital Migration For Ghana

The National Communications Authority (NCA) undertook re-planning of frequencies in the bands 174-230MHz and 470-862 MHz from 2004 to 2006. This was finalised at the ITU?s Regional Radiocommunication Conference (RRC-06) in Geneva where a treaty agreement, GE06, was signed.
